Mariana, in a white robe, is kneeling at the foot of a crucifix, some letters in her hands, others scattered on the ground. In the foreground lies an embroidery in front of a black-framed mirror in which Mariana's red hair is reflected. Behind we see the interior of a red room with a spinning wheel and lamp.
