Group portrait of Gerald Norden, Gordon L Davies, Jehan Daly and A.C Slawson. This conversation-piece portrays a group of the artist's friends who, with one exception, all settled in East Kent. When painting the East Kent School, Ward made separate oil studies of his friends from which he painted their heads onto the canvas, completing them with further sittings from life.
