Portrait group of Mr and Mrs Joseph Woodhead with the Reverend Henry Comber, brother of the latter, as a youth, during their visit to Rome. Mrs Harriet Woodhead is shown seated with her right arm intertwined with her husband's who leans towards her in a pose of romantic affection. The Reverend is posed as a dandy. The drawing is among the most ambitious by Ingres portraying English sitters. The sitters were relations of the vendors.
