Description:
12 rare gold and silver coins. Gold coins include: a noble (or the light coinage) of Henry IV (1411-1413), 2 nobles of Henry V, half-nobles of Edward III (1363-9), Richard II (last issue), and Henry IV(first issue), half sovereign of Elizabeth I. Silver coins include: groat of Edward I, 3 Bristol groats of Henry IV (1470-71), groat of Henry VII (third issue). These works are part of a long series of works of art from the collection of the Henry Van den Bergh which have found their way to museums through The Art Fund at different periods since 1909, either being presented by himself, or, following his death in 1937, by his heirs.
