This folio comprises 12 bright aquatints of the River Thames from Oxford to Staines bound in their original morocco leather binding. The aquatints are dedicated to the Commissioners of the Thames Navigation who were responsible for this section of the river. Havell was from a long established Thames family and born in Reading. The folio is fundamental to completing the Thames collection because it provides unusually detailed, visual evidence of the non-tidal river's operation as a working waterway. It will make an invaluable contribution to building up a vivid and accurate record of the Thames Navigation's history as an important trading and vital supply route for the nation. The main illustration depicts Windsor Castle.
