Charity; nursing two children, seated on her lap. Part of an album of drawings belonging to Lord James Cavendish MP (d 1741), son of the second Duke of Devonshire (1665-1729), founder of the great collection of drawings at Chatsworth. The collection of drawings form an interesting relic of the great age of collecting in England.

• Medium: pen and grey ink and grey wash on paper. Heightened with white, over black chalk, indented for transfer.
