Bawden is a major artist rooted in Essex where he was born and lived all his life. He is famed for his linocuts and this is a fine example of his work. Bawden's work forms the cornerstone of the collection at the Fry Gallery. This linocut features a local scene near Great Bardfield and the farm shown is the subject of another Bawden linocut already in the galleries possession.
