Description:
This tea set consists of a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug and spoon. It was made specifically for the final of the Jerwood Prize for Metal in 2005. Knight uses aluminium to contrast with the silver, both visually and in terms of 'meaning'. He also uses it to add bold areas of colour while retaining the practical advantage of lightness of weight. The tea-set therefore combines tradition with modernity, and art with function. Norwich already has a large collection of teapots but does not currently have any contemporary examples.
