Description:
This pottery plaque forms a display shelf with a distinctive feather fan shape drawing the eye towards whatever was on display on the central shelf. The whole design draws on an Egyptian motif similar to one used by Dresser in a number of other Linthorpe pieces. Dresser was art director of Linthorpe Art Pottery near Middlesbrough from 1879 to 1882. The Dorman museum has the largest holding of Linthorpe ceramic pieces in a public museum including a collection of 12 key pieces ArtFunded in 2005.
