For over a hundred years, we’ve helped more than 500 museums and galleries buy great works of art of all ages and types.
We also help museums show and share great art by supporting exhibitions like the ARTIST ROOMS tour of post-war and contemporary art across the UK. We campaign on behalf of museums and their visitors, support what museums and galleries do by investing in curatorial skills and celebrate and reward excellence in museums through the Art Fund Prize.
We do this not through state funding, but by mobilising tens of thousands of art lovers whose contributions provide our income. Our founders believed that by coming together individuals who cared about art could achieve things that on their own would be impossible. Today, as well as our 89,000 members, some 600 volunteers across the UK continue that philanthropic spirit, giving their time as well as money to support us.
Through the National Art Pass – a card that gives free entry to over 200 charging museums and 50% off entry to major exhibitions – you are able to enjoy art through the UK. And you automatically become an Art Fund member, supporting museums and galleries across the UK.
